Inspiration and References

Here is some of the research I did that inspired me to create what I did. I drew inspiration from several artists and their albums, particularly those fully made on trackers with creative sounds and arrangements. Below are the main albums and tracks that influenced me, along with the ways they shaped my music.

Greenhouse Albums (2022 & 2023)

Both the Greenhouse "SNDWRK/GH" album (2022) and "Arc, Regn" (2023) were super inspiring to me. These projects were fully made on trackers and sound amazing, though they do have a slightly larger file size (100 KB more on some tracks). Despite that, these albums deliver fantastic IDM tracks that have greatly influenced my own work. Listening to these inspired me to explore a similar direction in my sound design and composition.

Final Sketch - Chipsters Go Breakcore EP

Final Sketch's "Chipsters Go Breakcore" EP stood out to me, particularly the first track, “All That Remains vs Kubbi - Ember Calling (Final Sketch Remix)”. The energy in this track inspired my song “Marw,” especially the breakbeat section at the end that flirts with breakcore-style chopping and mashing. I didn't go full breakcore but definitely took inspiration from Final Sketch's fast-paced and intricate beats.

Chibi-tech

Another artist who inspired me is chiptune composer Chibi-tech. My favorite song from Chibi-tech is “Love is Insecurable.” The track inspired my use of the Dxx command in Modplug, which I utilized for sidechaining effects in my tracks. The Dxx command is a volume slide and mimics a manual sidechain, giving my songs a pumping motion that adds energy and dynamism.

Halley Labs Inspiration

Halley Labs or Emma Essex inspired me to make a website of my own hosting a variety of things. The navigation bar inspired me a lot. I really like side navigation bars and the shape and design was simple yet awesome to look at. I really liked the aesthetics of it. This in turn made me make my side navigation bar quite similar.
